Everyone breathes and everyone enjoys rhythmic music! This practice is adaptable for all kinds of musical tastes. Once we learn the techniques we can practice our own music as long as it has a simple beat we can breathe to.
I love to practice house and disco music in my classes and practices and often I work with classics to really ignite our embodied memory of rhythmic movements. Listening to music we love while we breathe it in and move with it rhythmically is so much fun and an extremely powerful practice for those with anxiety or just a busy mind. There is so much neuroscience and research to support this. The counting of the breath and syncing movements balances both your mind and body. And because we are listening to great music, there is fun and lightness to the practice, even though it's deep and transformative!
