Salute the Beat! (Sun Salutations with the Beat) and Sauna/Seaweed Bath
10:30am -12pm plus Sauna & Seaweed Bath 12-1:30pm
A 2 hour class which guides and attunes the rhythm of the breath with the magical movements/asana sequence that is the (traditional) Sun Salutation.
This is a powerful and intelligent way to synchronize with the transitions between the movements in a fluid, balanced and rhythmic way. Breathwork is the foundation of all House of Yoga classes and workshops and this is particularly resonant in this sequence (we work mainly with the traditional Sun Salute sequence) which requires focus with our breathing capacity and challenges the full breath within the body depending on the movement and our capacity to breathe within it..
We will start with full yoga breath practice and a slow flow sequence so that we can attune this full breath fully with each pose. This is a really exciting workshop which has taken me many years to refine, so I'm delighted to be able to transmit it at these times!
After the class please enjoy a Sauna and Seaweed Bath by the lake!
It is possible to just book the class and not sauna/seaweed bath) just get in touch email@example.com /085 8181386
A class which guides and attunes the rhythm of the breath with the magical movements/asana sequence that is the (traditional) Sun Salutation.
I’ve been breathing with the beat in my yoga practice and teaching and evolving this method for 15 years. Sun Salutations with the Beat is how I begin my day and I’ve been amazed at how it syncs so well with music and rhythm and particularly how it attunes my mind and mental world into my body and heart. I often wake up ungrounded and anxious and this practice is so helpful in getting me down deep into the moment. Sun Salutations are wonderful for opening up every part of the body and focusing and stretching our minds and hearts into the body and breath.
I work mainly with the traditional Sun Salute which includes lunges on each side and is gentle on the shoulders.
Beginning with lengthening the breath to the 8 count, long and slow, enabling us to sync into the body more mindfully and slowly, as we regulate the movements with the rhythm and the breath.
After practising half sun salutes and a few arm raises we move from sun salutes to the count of 4 and the count of 2..
I have integrated some holds and strengthening asana to balance and ground our minds and intentions.
This class is energising and challenging physically mentally and in terms of breathing capacities. I taught this workshop in one hour at a couple of yoga festival spaces this summer, and its really made me want to take the time and stretch it out for a longer time, to really really enjoy this new musical process of the gradual building of breath, rhythm, movement and mind that is the sun salute.
Suitable for those who have practiced yoga for about a year, and a knowledge of the traditional Sun Salute is essential!
